This Two (2) Tone Wood Cross is made from four individual pieces of Purple Heart and Maple. Purple Heart is from South America and Maple is from the Midwest. Each Cross piece is carefully mitered, aligned and contoured creating smooth lines and an incredibly beautiful focal point at the Cross center. This joint is substantially reinforced with hidden wood biscuit fasteners to ensures solid construction.
The Crosses are proportionally balanced by both size and wood selection leading to a pleasing elegance and symmetry.

(FUN FACT) - When Purple Heart is cut/sanded/contoured, it turns a muddy brown. After final sanding, I let these Purple Heart Crosses sit for 2 - 4 days, rotating and exposing ALL surfaces to the air. The Purple Heart then oxidizes from exposure to the air and turns a bright and colorful Purple. The final finish is then applied.
